192: The three capitals of South Africa – executive capital Pretoria (named for Andries Pretorius), judicial capital Blooemfontein (which means flower fountain) and legislative capital Capetown (named after the Cape of Good Hope / Cape Peninsula.)

193: Person From Porlock
xanadu?
“Coleridge’s Kubla Khan”
Man to the left is Samuel Coleridge.
The man in the middle is Kublai Khan.
The gent-ly to the right is Dirk G; ‘Kubla Khan’ and Coleridge play important roles in the plot of “DG’s Holistic Detective Agency”.
S.T Coleridge, interrupted while writing Kubla Khan, by a ‘man from Porlock’. Douglas Adams’ novel “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” asserts that it was the Protagonist who in fact traveled back in time and distracted Coleridge from writing coded messages from aliens in the poem.
Sam Taylor Coleridge dreamt of Kublai Khan’s Xanadu and woke up to write the poem Kublai Khan – but incomplete because some one interrupted him while writing it (following which he completely forgot his dream). Don’t know the connect with Dirk Gently (possibly the fact that Adams’ proposed third novel was interrupted by his death – Adams’ death that is)
Xanadu
1-Samuel Taylor Coleridge
2-Kublai Khan
3-Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
The Salaxalan engineer in 3 possesses Coleridge’s body and writes the 2nd stanza to Kubla Khan.
it was me who interrupted poor sammy boy while he was in a haze about Kublai Khan’s xanadu
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Kublai Khan
Man from Porlock, I assume.
Its about the ‘Person from Porlock’ who interrupted Samuel Taylor Coleridge during his composition of the poem Kubla Khan where he claimed to have been in an opium haze and he prevented him from completed the poem.Kubla Khan is a reference to Kublai Khan and the ‘Man from Porlock’ is the Dirk Gently in the Douglas Adams’ Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
In douglas adams work Dirk gently and the holistic detective ageny, Dirk manages to distract Samuel cooleridge so as to alter his works, Rime of the ancient mariner and Kubla Khan….
Samuel Taylor Coleridge,Kublai Khan, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. The storyline for the book by Douglas Adams involves a ghost of a alien being influencing ST Coleridge to write the poem ‘Kubla Khan’
In Gently’s novel was Samuel Taylor Coleridge,
influenced to extend his poem on Kublai Khan,
he knew not that the ride had a ridge,
as Person from Pollock disturbing the plan
Kublai Khan being the connect, but duuno how Dirk Gently connects to him
1. Coleridge
2. Kublai Khan
3. Dirk Gently

Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Kubla Khan and Dirk Gently.
Coleridge claimed that he was interrupted by the “man from Porlock” while writing the poem Kubla Khan. The poem plays a key role in the book “Dirk Gently’s holistic detective agency” where it serves as some sort of coded message to destroy the earth. As per the novel, Gently was the man from Porlock who interrupted Coleridge and saved the world 🙂

Image 3 – Dirk Gently, of the holistic detective agency.
References to STC’s “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” and “Kubla Khan” are rife in the first Dirk Gently book which is named after his agency.
Not sure who the dude in the first visual is. The second and third are Genghis khan and Dirk Gently respectively. They all feature in Douglas Adam’s last unfinished work “Salmon of Doubt” (There is a story on Genghis khan and there is an incomplete Dirk Gently novelette)
