Hello,

In keeping with the awesome modern trend of inflating a single
flagship quiz into a happily obese weekend of quizzing — we’re
looking at you, bearded one! — the Quiz Foundation of India-Chennai
and the IIT Madras Quiz Club will jointly host their first two-day
orgy of quizzing on Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29, 2012. Every one
of the six quizzes spread over the weekend is open to all comers —
including contenders from Dhaka, who will be happy to learn that these
are, by design, team quizzes. QFI-Chennai’s best and brightest —
along with a couple of imports from Bangalore, and celebrity
quizmasters from Dubai and Singapore — will set quizzes on a diverse
set of topics, ranging from Rajinikanth movies to Soundarya
Rajinikanth movies.

Please do set aside that weekend to travel to Chennai from wherever
you are and join us for these celebrations.
Travel fares will not be re-imbursed, but we are willing to forge
signatures on invoices that make it look as if you travelled for work.
Accommodation is cheap and plentiful, in mansions all over Triplicane.

Venue for all quizzes: The IIT Madras Central Lecture Theatre
(air-conditioned!!), courtesy of the IIT Madras Quiz Club
Teams for all quizzes: Up to three members per team
Prizes for all quizzes: Quite possibly
Entry fee for all quizzes: Rs 100
The schedule is as follows:

DAY 1 – Saturday, July 28, 2012

9 am-12:30 pm – Travel and Tourism Quiz (conducted by team Obama
Sathyabama, feat. “Lawyer” Sivakumar, Udupendra and Ramkey Ve.)
1:30 pm-2:30 pm – Written Humour Quiz (conducted by G. Krishnamurthi
and, probably in absentia, Rajen “Sumo” Prabhu)
3 pm-7:30 pm – Audio-Visual Quiz (conducted by T. K. Balaji, V.
Deviprasad, and “Feelings” Rajagopal)

DAY 2 – Sunday, July 29, 2012

9 am-12:30 pm – Music Quiz (conducted by Vijay Sarathy and Ashwin)
1:30 pm-2:30 pm – Written Cricket Quiz (conducted by Sankhya “I Only
Wake Up To Mother Mega-Whats” Krishnan and — so that you don’t have
to compete against him — “Wisden” Sreeram)
3 pm-7:30 pm – The QFI Open (conducted by team QED)

Platinum Sponsor: Gaana.com
Gold Sponsor: Union Bank of India
Co-sponsors: ePagemaker and TS Mahalingam

We will certainly start on time on both days, and we will endeavour to
finish by 7:30 pm as well. But teams planning to leave Chennai on
Sunday night may want to book the last flight / train available, just
in case. The venue, IIT Madras, is not far from the airport, but it is
something of a schlep to the railway station, so budget at least 45
minutes to get to Chennai Central by auto-rickshaw.
