Moses Cleaveland, who founded the U.S. city of Cleveland, which was later named after him.

  1. This is the statue of General Moses Cleaveland, who founded the city now known as Cleveland. When the first newspaper was in the new city was published, the editor figured the “Cleaveland” spelling was too long for the header and dropped the “a”, hence the current spelling.
