WHAT & WHY
Hello quizzers,
In 2017 The Quiz Foundation of India, Chennai (QFI) celebrated its 30th anniversary with what was then described as “a special, once in a lifetime, buy one get nothing free QFI Invitational Quiz, exclusively for quiz clubs.” Since nothing succeeds like excess we decided last year to make this an annual affair to “shake hands” with quiz clubs across the country. And so, welcome to the QFI Invitation Quiz 2024 – a general quiz for our quizzing friends across the country.

WHEN, WHERE & HOW
FORMAT
CITY-WISE PRELIM ROUND
Date: Sunday 9th June 2024
Time: 2 PM IST
Teams from quiz clubs in India and beyond can participate in the city rounds. The quiz will be run simultaneously across the country at 2 PM and is expected to end by 5 PM.
Format
50 questions on PowerPoint, written answers, proctored by a volunteer.
Caveats:
• Only clubs/local entities that can conduct the quiz on this date at this time, and can arrange a venue and mobile phone/internet access (for distribution of passwords before the quiz etc.) will be eligible to participate.
• The quiz is open to 3-member teams of any composition. Teams of two and solo participants are also welcome.
• Teams must attempt the quiz with the registered members.
• A team is allowed to substitute a maximum of one team member for the national final. The substitute participant should NOT have attempted this round with any other team.
The TOP 5 CITY WINNERS (i.e. winning teams from the cities will be ranked in descending order of scores and the top 5 from that list, each from five different cities) will be invited to take part in the National Final in Chennai at QFI’s signature fest QFIesta, which will be held on August 17-18, 2024.
• If a qualified team indicates that they cannot attend the national final the next highest-scoring team in order of merit (regardless of city) will be selected.
CHENNAI PRELIM ROUND and INVITATION QUIZ FINAL
Date: QFIesta weekend of 17th-18th August, 2024
Time and Venue will be shared closer to the event.
Teams that did not qualify via the City-wise Winner route need not despair. At QFIesta another written round will be conducted. The top 4 teams from this round will join the 5 City Winners for the Finals.
