Greetings from the other side,
As the covid-19 pandemic fades into the past (ha! famous last words), we think it’s time to restore some words and phrases to the use they were originally intended:
◉ “Cover your nose and mouth” …particularly during a closely fought quiz final, when the next team might hear you discussing answers
◉ “Social distancing”: leaving one seat’s gap between teams during a quiz prelims
◉ “Booster”: crucial points won towards the end of a quiz
◉ “Work from home”: what you tell your boss to get Friday off so you can attend a three-day quiz fest
Accordingly, the Quiz Foundation of India-Chennai is delighted to announce a new, language-restoring, spirit-reviving edition of QFIesta, its annual festival of quizzing. The schedule of quizzes, spread over August 13-15, 2022, is as follows:
Saturday, August 13:

- Remote Control: A general quiz by QFI’s NRIs: 9:30am-2pm
QMs: Vinod Ganesh, Ashwin Kumar, G Krishnamurti, Akshay Natarajan - Hikimayu: The fake highbrow quiz (literature + arts): 3pm – 7:30pm

Sunday, August 14:

Every quiz is open to teams of up to three people. Smartacus has no registration fee. Every other quiz has a registration fee of Rs 100 per team, but the fee will be waived for school teams.
We cannot stress this enough: QFIesta is LIVE, in the flesh, in person, offline, IRL, corporeal. We’ve been waiting for two years to say that. We should also urge, though: if you’re exhibiting symptoms of covid-19 on the mornings of the quizzes, please test immediately or stay home as a precaution. If you’re feeling fine, though, we hope very much to see you there!
Please also carry a mask with you. Wearing a mask inside the auditorium is mandatory for the Smartacus quiz – any participant found to not be wearing a mask during the Smartacus Quiz will be disqualified from the quiz.
All quizzes are at CP Arts Centre in Alwarpet, except Smartacus Senior Quiz, which is at Chinmaya Heritage Centre, which is in Chetpet. Please plan for 45 minutes to get from CP arts to Chinmaya if you are attending both quizzes on Day 2.
