QFIesta 2016: Chennai – August 13,14

The-Quiz-Fest-Formerly-Known-As-The-Woodstock-Of-Quizzing is back!
We are happy to announce that QFIesta 2016 will happen on the 13th and 14th of August. We will have six quizzes set by 19 QMs from QFI.

All the quizzes will be hosted at the Ada Lovelace Auditorium, IT Department, College of Engineering, Guindy. The quizzes are brought to you in collaboration with Quizzers Anonymous, the Quiz Club of CEG. (Google Maps – https://goo.gl/maps/W22AvqLNNe82)

Registration fees of Rs. 100/team/quiz

13th August (Saturday)

1. The Insignificant Others Open Quiz – General Quiz by Vijay Sarathy, Sreeram and Sankhya. Starts at 9.30am
2. Books Quiz (Written) by Keshav Athreya, SRS and Ajay Parasuraman. Starts at 2.00pm
3. General Quiz by Dinesh Krithivasan, Ashwin and Manu Sudhakar. Starts at 3.30pm

14th August (Sunday)

4. Entertainment and Pop Culture Quiz (Written) by Vikram Rajan, Mario and Abid. Starts at 9.30am.
5. Sports Quiz by Ramesh, Rohit, Niranjan and Varun. Prelims at 11.30 am. Finals will start at 1.30pm
6. The QFI Open Quiz by Samanth, Swami and Jayakanthan. Finals will start at 3.30pm

The Landmark Open Quiz by Dr. Navin Jayakumar will happen on the 15th of August as usual. With seven open quizzes, we expect this to be a fun filled and rewarding weekend for quizzers.

All quizzes will be for teams of three.

  1. I have a doubt,where can v register for the General Quiz by Dinesh Krithivasan, Ashwin and Manu Sudhakar which is held on 13th August and for General Quiz by Vijay Sarathy, Sreeram and Sankhya which is held on the same day….

    1. Prior registration is not required. You can just show up and register at the venue on the day of the event.

    1. All the quizzes will be at the same venue. Venue is being finalized. We’ll announce it soon.

  3. What are the main topics in which the questions for the quiz will be prepared

    1. The quizzes (other than the sports, entertainment and books quizzes) will be general in nature.

    1. The general quizzes will also feature questions on sports, entertainment and books whereas the specialist quizzes will focus specifically on those areas of interest. If you’re curious about the questions that typically get asked in a general quiz, you could drop in on one of our fortnightly meetings. Details of these weekly meetings will be posted in this blog and on our FB page (https://www.facebook.com/quizfoundation/?fref=ts).

  5. Is there a prize for the best college team? If so, are cross-college teams eligible for the same?

  6. What about the registration fees ?
    Whether we can join as Audience to give exposure to my son ?

  7. We will update the post with details of the registration fees and venue shortly.
    Please feel free to attend the quizzes as an audience member or a participant. There are no registration fees for audience members (and only a nominal one for participants). Looking forward to seeing you and your son on the 13th and 14th!

    1. Hi Sathya,
      There’s the College of Engineering canteen. Besides that there’s a small shop selling snacks and coffee right outside the venue. Not sure about availability on a Sunday. Would advise you to carry light snacks (to be consumed outside the auditorium) and bottles of water. We have a long day of quizzing ahead of us today. Hope to see you there.
