503: What’s the story behind these images?

502: Tooter – a time traveling cartoon turtle from the 1960s. Each segment of the show ended with the Tooter’s trip becoming a  catastrophe, when he always called out the same thing, the famous, “Help me, Mr. Wizard!” to his friend Mr. Wizard the Lizard. One major reference to Tooter Turtle comes from The Matrix. In a scene where Neo is attempting to find a way to return to the real world, he contacts his operator and says to him, “Mr. Wizard, get me the hell out of here!” This is a reference to Mr. Wizard’s rescuing abilities (as well as a possible inside joke referencing Keaneau Reeves’s vocal similarity to Tooter Turtle).

  1. All Saints Church in Daresbury, England has 5 small ‘Alice character’ panels below a larger Nativity scene.
The window was created in 1935 to mark the 1932 centenary of the birth of Lewis Carroll and was created at All Saint’s because it was the parish where Carroll was born.
