Daily Question – 16

Where would you find these, now or later? An explanation would be nice.

Yinka Shonibare’s ‘Nelson’s Ship in a Bottle’ (Visual 3) and Antony Gormley’s ‘One and Other’ (Visual 2) are the next two works that will occupy the Fourth Plinth on Trafalgar Square in London. Currently, the work displayed on the plinth is Thomas Schutte’s ‘Model for a Hotel’ (Visual 1).

Cracked by anil raghavan, BoFi (there were six finalists, these two won), ganesh, zizzyphus, citibank(rupt), vijaysarathy, ba_ku_69, Thejaswi Udupa, Gaurav, Paulie and Guneet. Well done!

  1. The Fourth Plinth Project – one would find these on top of the fourth plinth at Trafalgar Square which has been used by various organizations for their own demo till some body took responsibility of it.

  2. when i was in london.. 🙂
Originally a bank(and u know which one) was supposed to sponsor a work of art on the 4th Plinth at Trafalgar Square. That didnt pan out. So now various artists are selected to display their works. The top picture is what is currently on the 4th Plinth and the ones below will replace it soon.

Incidentally the bank wanted to put up their ATM on that spot and thats why that proposal didn’t work(it was submitted by a person who shares his nick name with a popular Japanese sport)

  3. Fourth Plinth of Trafalgar Square-
Thomas Schutte’s Model for a Hotel 2007 is the one present right now and Antony Gormley’s “One and the Other” an empty plinth with a safety net and Yinka Shonibare’s proposal to make a replica of Nelson’s ship HMS Victory in a bottle have been chosen to find a place in the Fourth Plinth.

  4. Fourth Plinth of Trafalgar Square-Currently it has Thomas Schutte’s Model for a Hotel 2007 and now Antony Gormley’s “One and Other” and Yinka Shonibare’s Nelson’s ship in a bottle have been chosen from a shortlist of six artwork models to be in 4th Plinth.

  5. The 4th plinth at Trafalgar…but a crib

The glass hotel thing is the present installation on the plinth, but I am sure the other two have not been on it (as far as I remember the other works were Whiteread´s Monument, Ecco Homo and the Pregnant artist without limbs thing, although I may be missing one).

Therefore I can only conjecture that these are markups of suggested sculptures. If that is the case, are they the two finalists? Weren´t there other entries? In quizspeak terms, is this an exhaustive list?
